AAPI Heritage Month Lecture: "Asian American Women’s History: War Heroines and Community Leaders" by Stacey Salinas Online

Stacey Anne Baterina Salinas is a scholar-activist born and raised in Daly City. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine and her Master’s degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, both in American History. Her research focus pertains to Asian American History with an emphasis on gender, labor activism, feminism, and talk story with community elders. Her recent publications highlight Filipina guerrillas during World War II and the Manang Generation. Currently she is researching and conducting oral histories to help document the earlier Filipino towns of the American west coast from the 1900s-1970s. Stacey Anne currently teaches and volunteers for other Asian-American led coalitions like Chinatown’s Pacific Atrocities Education, the Filipino American National Historical Society, & The Filipino American Woman Project Podcast. As one of the co-founders of the Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies, Stacey Anne has also created exhibits and K-12 curriculum on Asian American history and the Fil-Am experience. Stacey Anne is currently a PhD Candidate in Cultural Studies and instructor for the Asian American Studies department at UC Davis.
